At OIGeoServ we have enlisted a full array of talents to meet the needs of any GIS applied science.  Planning, engineering, marketing, systems integration, environmental analysis, litigation and military applications all fall within the experience scope and capability of OIGeoServ.  Further, with experience on 6 continents, we are fully apprised of the international policies and procedures that may or may not be consistent with the United States.

Engineering – By far, we are thoroughly experienced in all engineering applications that utilize GIS applications.  In fact, when GIS was in its infancy stage many years ago, we were involved with the initial conversion of numerous utility systems and/or maps into a single seamless system.  This involved using many different platforms, customized applications and the management of data capture teams.  Further, accompanying the customized software deployment was the establishment of a technical support department offering 24 hour troubleshooting and development to an international audience.

Another milestone achieved by OIGeoServ was the early development of digital conversion process for FEMA flood maps.  Today, these maps are totally digital but in accordance with regulations at the time, the maps had to be examined manually to determine a property owner’s flood insurance requirements.  To circumvent and augment this lengthy process, we developed a process that reduced determination time from 15 to 2 minutes per manual determination.

Surveying is another engineering application in which OIGeoServ has extensive experience.  Ranging from 1st order cadastral to construction layout, we are able to convert any engineering data into real world control elements.   This has involved expertise in a number of instruments including Total Station Systems and Global Positioning Systems (Real-time and Post-Processing).  These applications have been used to produce mapping and survey grade data for both military and civilian clients.

Marketing – GIS can systems can be used in a multitude of disciplines but one of the most widely used applications is market research and analysis.  Customer locations, trends, movements and service needs are critical metrics for which marketing organization use to make key decisions in product and service offerings.  Especially in a period of economic downturn, marketing organizations ramp up their marketing strategies and use GIS to fine tune their approach.  We at OIGeoServ have been intimately involved in such efforts.

 

Systems Integration

 

Environmental – Some say that GIS was invented for environmental application.  In fact, the leading GIS software developer has environmental ingrained into its name.   OIGeoServ prides itself for being a green conscious, environmentally responsible firm with personnel boasting many years of experience in site investigation, construction supervision, compliance assistance and litigation matters.  On the military side, OIGeoServ has the unique experience of integrating environmental data into the GeoBase web portal.  Further, interfacing remote sensors into a live data feed on the GIS platform is a specialty of OIGeoServ.  Plume modeling and analysis from groundwater contamination sources and leaking underground tanks are also within our capability.  Going forward we anticipate tasks such as these will be in high demand internationally and OIGeoServ stands poised to meet the need of the environmental compliance sector.
